It’s not one model. Sol is the heavyweight version, Terra is built for everyday work, and Luna is tuned for speed and volume. That’s OpenAI admitting different jobs need different horsepower, not one giant model for everything. Sam Altman said the Sol version is 54% more token efficient on coding tasks. Translation: the same work costs less compute, which eventually means it costs you less. ChatGPT Work, built on GPT-5.6, pulls context from your team’s tools and turns scattered notes into finished documents, spreadsheets, and reports, while you approve the steps along the way. The rollout was staggered at the request of the US government before going broad.
None of this changes what AI can do overnight. But it’s another sign the tools are becoming cheaper and more embedded in daily work, not just chat windows. Worth a look if you haven’t touched ChatGPT since last year.
